Fight Global Warming With GreenPay Credit Card

green pay credit card
*note: this is an unsolicited blog post - we liked the idea, so we thought we’d share

a local Atlanta entrepreneur, Andrew Mathieson, has come up with an eco-friendly twist on your everyday credit card. Titled ‘GreenPay‘, the credit card provides users eco-friendly rewards and carbon offsetts for each dollar spent. An ingenious idea, we think, and - how cool is this - the card is made from recycled plastic (of course)

    I did not check it out!

    A Tale of Two Houses !! Do NOT skip to the end. Read ALL of it.

    You can check this out on Snopes.com under ‘The Story of Two Houses’

    House #1 A 20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms ) heated by
    natural gas. Add on a pool ( and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwester n ’snow belt’ area. It’s in the South.

    House #2 Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every ‘green’ feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F. ) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected
    and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from
    showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then
    into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.
    ~~~~~
    HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the ‘environmentalist’ Al Gore.
    HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
    An ‘inconvenient truth’.
    Is this true? Give it to me straight and I will forward it to everyone who sent this to me!!!
    Another entrepreneurial idea. I just heard a song by a local artist, Denis Coughlin, called Green. One line in particular, “Green is the new red white and blue,” struck me. I wonder what Al Gore would think of using this as a theme song for his campaign against the energy crisis and global warming. When I Googled Denis’ name, I found the name of the CD which is new, is called Nocturnal Pop Journal. I’d like to know what anyone thinks about this, particularly Mr. Gore. I’d bet my last dollar, Mr. Coughlin would be delighted to have it used. Real catchy tune.
    I founded a small business ten years ago and we have been moderately successful. I would like to meet with Mr. Gore for a heart to heart discussion on how my software development company would be able to assist and profit from providing our services to green conscience companies.
    Thank you!
    Mr. Gore, my name is Sean Howley and I am senior at Penn State University. I am passionate about the E.P.A. My current major is Natural Science and I am starting to look for interniship positions that involves Global Warming. I believe that making the public environmentally aware will be a key process in cleaning up our air. I am willing to travel and live where ever I am needed, as long as I am doing something to help preserve the Earth. If there are no jobs available in your branch please refer to any other jobs that might help benefit my perrogative. I would appreciate it if you could point me where to go in that department. I hope you respond as soon as you can because I am ready willing and able! Sincerely, Sean H
    If Al stops eating so many hamburgers may stop the sick planet eh??? Dumb ass:)
    Look! You dumb ass people may buy into Al but get a clue! Mars polar ice caps have been going poof for the 30 years we have been looking at them and 15000 years ago the George’s Bank fishing grounds were an island so the planet does NOT have a fever (good God how that statement just fries me:) and IF you clowns have anything to declare it is that you want us to FREEZE the planet as it is now which is nuts! The thing about the global warming crowd that scares me is they miss the point that where I live now was under 2 miles of ice 15000 years ago and the planet warms and cools thru out time and we will spend our time listening to clowns like Al with his skewered charts and not understand that our coasts WILL be changing over time and THAT is what we need to plan for- not some loser like ALGORE but reality! Knock knock! it changes:) Our planet is not fixed but it changes! Hello?
    I live in Florida and fish a bunch. I have a boat that burns 15 gallons an hour at cruise. It was common for the bay temp to get into the 90s a few years ago but this year it only reached 85. A few years ago my other boat burned 12 gallons an hour. I burned less fuel with my last boat and the temp was higher than when I burned more fuel, hence, more fossil fuels burned the lower the temp. Al Gore would be proud of my logic.
    A global song for 2008
    Freedom, strive for freedom strive for love
    Feelings, start to feel them, don’t be tough
    give hatred a break, that is all it will take
    come together, be together, simply love, love, love
    Freedom, strive for freedom it can be
    Love your brother, love your sister and be free
    We don’t have to fight, to make things good, to make things right
    Come together, live together, simply love, love, love
    Healing, start the healing for our earth
    treat her gently, treat her kindly for new birth
    don’t destroy her, do protect her and enjoy her
    sing together, laugh together, simply love, love, love……
    That is my New Years wish to us all, Love Hermine
