I agree that it seems that the world around us seems to be going down the toilet, And the weather seems to be hotter. But my question is this we have had doomsday prophets for centuries. What is the difference here? It is a fact that the earth goes through many changes and always takes care of itself. The fact of the matter is that alot of energy is being used to focus on the problems of the Earth and not on mankind. Because that is where the problem is mankind is in a terrible shape and we as americans need to be focsed on this fact and not the Earth. We need alot of prayer. I want to thank you for being able to give my oppinion and God Bless.

Please reconsider the use of CFL bulbs. They are mercury laden and in the long run will prove to be a lot more deadly, especially to anyone allergic to mercury. If you think people will recycle them or not put them in the trash, you are really mistaken. They will end up in out land fills everywhere and then WHERE will we be.
Thank you for your attention to this matter

Ration auto fuel so that each licensed driver gets exactly the same amount. Each driver will be able to buy or sell some or all of their rations to other drivers for whatever price is agreed upon. This way, small car drivers living in town will make money off of people with large vehicles who live far away from work. This is better than the oil companies making the money.

Dear Al:
In listening to your Live Earth concert an idea occurred to me. What should be the policies of the U.S. government to promote mitigation of GHG emissions? I don’t find a comprehensive set of policy recommendations on your web site algore.com. I find one or two suggestions in the Live Earth pledge. Have you developed such a comprehensive policy portfolio for the U.S?
I send this comment hoping for two way communications that you argue is the necessary condition for effective democracy in your book Assault on Reason. With best regards,

Al, how about addressing one of the real issues here. Americans comprise some 2% or less of the earths population and yet consumes over 75% of the worlds petroleum. This is a quote I heard some years back and although the numbers may be awry, there is a major truth in this. What have you done to stop Americans buying large cars? Heres a bet…the vast majority of Americans will do nothing and leave the rest of the world to sort out its mess. Oh God, thats what we have been doing since the late 1940s, haven’t we? Like Vietnam, like Afghanistan, like Iraq.

I totally agree with Carol Lapp and thought I would go crazy if I heard one more high carbon footprint (BTW, CO2 is not the only contributor to global warming or the sorry state of our planet) entertainer advocate the use of these “energy saving” bulbs (made in China and made to smoke when they burn-out…fire hazard) I thought I would puke. In tiny print on the side of these bulbs it says they contain mercury please do not dispose in the regular trash. When the mercury from one old thermometer can ruin a lake, why in the world would anyone advocate going “green” by pushing these bulbs. I didn’t even notice the warning for months. Two of mine actually got so hot when they burned out that they smoked and charred. Now, if my house caught on fire and all that smoke got released, how would that compare to the CO2 released from the extra CO2 that went into the extra electricity use of regular 40-60 Watt bulbs?
I have a lot better ideas to decrease the average temp increase, that is causing the extra CO2 release, than using these light bulbs!!!

When the hypocrite, Mr Gore returns the millions he and his father have received from Occidental Petroleum over the years, then I will give him some respect. Until the day that he denounces the ravages that Occidental has visited upon this planet, I have no use for him.

Al gore promises to spend 100 million dollar ad campaign to make global warming a voting issue in 2008
I have tried my best over the years to help the planet: not using pesticides. Tuning off lights, and not using a ton of electricity and gas. Using propane to for my grill, and growing the best darn weeds you ever saw. I’ve had a compost pile, I recycled. I also used the energy efficient light bulbs for years. Yes, they do last a long time. But they are expensive.
Due to a work related back injury; then subsequently being fired form my job because my work couldn’t accommodate my work related back injury. I no longer can afford to buy those expensive light bulbs.
During the, “Live Earth” concerts we were told that just changing out four regular light bulbs would help the environment.
Why don’t you give out coupons for free bulbs?
How about,” buy one get three free’? That will start people buying them.
That will help the environment.
But that won’t put money into the pockets of the people who manufacture the energy efficient bulbs. At least not right away.
Money makes the world go round. Soon we will end up falling off the earth, due too greediness. When we complain, we the little guys get hit with the repercussions; we can’t, “Rock the Boat” for fear of being kicked out.
What about the bees? I didn’t hear a thing about them. Is that because the cell phone companies sponsored the event? I don’t know who did; but I find that odd.
I use to work for T-Mobile; I was a fired after ‘telling’ the EEOC what was going on in the Chicago switch. That ended my career.
I moved on to a Marketing Assistant at Minerallac, in Hampshire Illinois. That’s when my job was threatened if I didn’t do my job, and the warehouse packer position.
That company had young teens, 12-15 working in the very hot warehouse during the summer. They added the money onto their parents pay checks. Stupid me, I complained.
When I got hurt they got rid of me fast. “Couldn’t accommodate my work injury.”
My boss, the CEO and the President of the company disappeared when I kept complaining. The banks came in then they found a lot more issues that nearly closed the company.
What I learned was don’t, “rock the boat” or the person holding your paycheck, your life will cut the strings.
Now I am waiting on Disability, due to that work related back injury. I feel like I am begging for help.
Which I am!
But I would still stand up, with my cane, and “rock the boat.”

I have been buying new light bulbs. They are very expensive
for me to purchase. Within the last six months I have had
six of the bulbs to blow. They are supposed to last 5 years.
This is within normal wear in lamps etc.
Maybe you could have China make them a little bit better.
I think this is a terrible thing for you to support.
Three of the bulbs are made by the HG company in China.
The other ones are made by Sylvania in China.
Really ticked off.

al mentioned that we have about 10 yeaars left to make a turn around on planet earth. I believe he also commented something to the fact that we cant afford not to. I ask this why is it so expessive to do it? Why cant auto makers and companies that produce products that help out lower there prices? So the average american can play that part in making a difference. I can not tell how much I would love to make a difference. The moneys just not there.

Any intelligent human knows that the earth is warming up. Have we forgotten that the northern part of the United States was covered by glaciers at one time? Could it be that they disappeared because of “global warming?” (Smile)
We’ve lost nearly 10 Billion Acres of Trees since 1492. That’s over 54%. Trees convert Carbon Dioxide (CO2) to Oxygen (O2), and that’s the stuff we breath. Carbon Dioxide is the stuff we exhale. Carbon Dioxide is called a “Greenhouse Gas” because it’s breathed by plants and trees. However, its buildup in the atmosphere is causing climate change.
Former Vice President Al Gore says it’s all about automobile emissions and fossil fuel use. I believe that he’s dead wrong. And I believe, with all due respect, that Al Gore knows it!
Where were the “automobile emissions and fossil fuel use” when the glaciers began to melt? Where were the loggers when this planet we call earth, began to warm up?
Yes, “automobile emissions and fossil fuel use” contribute, as well as the cutting of our forests. However, the real reason is completely out of human hands.
Remember the “Ice age”; you’ll get it!

Sir Could you please provide the answers to the following questions questions.
They are:
1. What determines the size of a “Foot Print”? What is the size of the “Foot Print” based on
2. How do they measure the emissions from the “Foot Print”? Do they measure every day for a year at that property? Do they use a Big Tent?
3. How big is a “Foot Print”? What determines its size? Is there a standard size?
4. What about winds aloft or rain or snow, do these things make a difference?
5. What is the basis/data on which that this measurement is taken?
6. How was it established as “GOOD” or “BAD”. Who made this decision and what did he base it on?
7. How does purchasing part of a “Good Foot Print” change the fact that Yours or My “Foot Print” is still Bad?
8. If it is causing a problem, even if you purchase part of a “Good Foot Print”, you property is still hurting the atmosphere isn’t it?
9. If you plant trees, and you don’t plant them on the property that is causing the problem, how does that help the problem on the bad property?
10. How many trees do you plant for any given property?
11. What’s the ratio of tree to the problem measure/base?
12. If Warming is the problem today, when did it change from Cooling?
13. What caused the change?
14. We have been told that the problem that caused Cooling is the same problem that is now causing Warming, how can this be?
15. If we are indeed experiencing a Warming Problem, why has this been one of the coolest Summers on Record?

You, sir, appear to be a hypocrite. I have just read the stats about your home and that of George Bush and find it disgusting. Even with the “carbon foot-print” concept, your home in Tennessee is completely extravagant and appalling. The funds to spend large amounts for energy consumption is not a valid moral justification. I will see and hear your “messages” in a different way from now on.

I don’t believe this is what was ment by making our world greener.
I am writing in hopes that someone will help us save our Valley before nothing is left except an interpretive sign!
In 2000 Columbia Land Trust a Vancouver, Washington based Non Governmental Organization came to our area. CLT came to pick up where the government left off. CLT held public meetings to gain support; the community didn’t buy into CLT’s rhetoric. CLT promised preservation was the goal, no dikes would be breached, nor tide gates removed, and the community would benefit. The community did not believe CLT.
I have a beautiful piece of property; it is the first place I have ever felt at home and safe in my life. It is in the way of CLT’s goal to flood the entire Valley. An elderly woman has been threatened in that she will not do anything to save her home, the river laps at her back door and erodes her land, a family up fossil Creek lost most of their land because permits to clean their tide gates were refused.
2004 CLT purchased the Kandoll Farm. CLT requested I sell to them, I refused, and I was then targeted as an unwilling seller. No permits were needed since CLT is a NGO, Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board sponsored CLT’s “project”. The Streamlined Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA) was used meaning, no environmental impact studies were done, no engineer studied the project, and permits were not required.
Immediately, sloughs were filled in, my utility room flooded destroying my freezer, all the food, linen, and supplies that were stored there (utility room is two feet lower then house). In 2005 CLT asked me to give them my land, I refused. A thirty-six inch tide gate was replaced by two thirteen-foot culverts, more sloughs filled in, a county road made lower in areas and higher across form my property, eagles nests were bulldozed over, and the area looked like a war zone. The only thing left of habitat is mosquitoes. The chum get swooshed onto the fields there they flop and die. The same type of project was done on Wirnnika Road, the rivers depth went from 21 feet to 9 feet due to the increased sediment and debris thrown into the river, thus destroying fish spawning areas.
December 31st, 2005 my home, property and barns flooded. My home and out buildings stayed immersed in water till March 17th 2006 with each high tide the water got deeper, the property itself stayed flooded until late June. Almost everything was a total loss, No automobiles ran, classic cars destroyed, a professional automotive shop, and all the tools gone. My home had extensive damage. CLT requested I give them the property, I refused.
I repaired what I could, it took me two months to get enough money to buy a used van in the meantime I had to hitch hike to work. I made the house somewhat livable again. I could not replace the tiles so I have bare wood under lament. My minimal insurance would not cover they determined third party error.
When my property flooded I had three to four foot waves crashing from their “project” it sounded as though I was at the beach, I live 25 miles inland. The water filled my property then headed east flooding Altoona hwy and the Scott’s B&B. If I allow CLT to take over my property it opens it up for the entire Valley to be flooded I will not do this to my neighbors and the community I care so much about.
Ducks Unlimited who partnered with CLT on the Kandoll road project had Battele’s Pacific Northwest Laboratory do a modeling of the project this was shown to stakeholders in September of 2006 although they imputed that water was never on my driveway when in fact Ian Sinks of CLT was walking up my drive way as the water crashed, the water was up to his thighs and he is a man of over six-foot. Even though crucial facts were eliminated it still showed the project was in error and caused me to flood. CLT again requested I sell/give.
November 5th, 2006 at around five am I woke to waves coming again. I grabbed what little I could and left. The water was about two foot deep on the driveway at this time. My daughter and I went done at about 1pm to see what we could and John Oxford of DU and Ian Sinks, CLT was there. We pointed out to them the water was running to the east towards the Grays River not from the Grays River, They saw this and agreed it was interesting later they dismissed this fact. The grays River did flood over its banks it is interesting to note I am the only one who had damage. In all honesty the first flood caused more damage as things set in water for months. This flood came and went.
Again they asked me to reconsider. The next phase of CLT flooding me out consists of building the county road up higher this will enable the depth of water to be greater on my property, a levy built from my mail box to the Grays River when the river reaches capacity it has no where to spread out CLT has directed it right into my home.
I have not had a night without nightmares since CLT came to our community. It seems they are above the law, armed with our tax dollars through governmental grants under the guise of salmon recovery they can commit Felony Vandalism. CLT has come to make the Grays River Valley the Grays Swamp. Won’t you help?

Can you tell me what the average mediun temp. of the earth is. This is about a global tax for the ultra rich to get rich and richer. To take advantage of illiterate or less educated people. You would be afraid to confront anyone with an opposeing veiw point. You prey on the less intelicual to promote a cause that has always existed naturally. Take for instance the discover that Greenland was once lush with forest. You have not come out and acknoleged this new fact. Only the facts that suit a global tax. You hide in the shadows and ignore what does not benifit you. In stead of acknoligeing a different point of veiw that has been relised as fact.
