... and while I have your attention; if the logging industry were allowed back in the forests, you would find the logging and clearing helps minimize fires. I am 53 years old. I grew up on the west coast in Oregon and California. I guarantee you, growing up in the 50, 60's and 70's, we never had so many devastating forest fires, as we do today. There was better forest management before the Sierra Club and the Al Gores discovered government grant money available to liberal causes. Liberalism is a mental disorder and it must be stopped in 2008. You decide. Register and vote.

P.S. Let us not forget the Russian outposts and weather monitors abandoned because of extreme cold... which of course changes your average temps because they are no longer a part of Al's equations in calculating the earth's temperatures...

Why Al Gore won't debate? Because there are inconvenient truths Al Gore would like to ignore; (a) Reality and records show approximately a 1 degree overall global temperature change - if even that - in the last 100 years (b) Arctic caps are actually larger than they were, 100 years ago (c) Ooops, sorry but we didn't get all those nasty hurricanes forecast this year Al - damn those cold fronts (d) In the words of John Coleman "Global warming is the biggest scam ever perpetuated" on the world (e) Al would lose all that wonderful grant money, truth be known (f) Sorry Al, but you need to take your little trophy home and turn out some of those lights you left burning.

Tadepalli Murty belongs to a group that wants Canada to abandon their commitment to the Kyoto Treaty. They're supported by energy industry contributions (surprise, surprise) and twp large papers. A Canadian website that exposes these PR effort explains that they changed their name last year -

TS Murty is a ocean-civil engineer who specializes in tides, tsunamis and ocean waves. Checking the science literature (google scholar) shows that Murty hasn't published any original work in climate science. Putting a lot of weight in his un-expert opinion might be just as wise as asking a lawyer to remove your child's appendix.

His comment about the Cretaceous era has little relevance to today's climate because of vastly different continent positions (affecting ocean currents) and other factors. High on the list is the fact that CO2 in those days was 4 - 5X higher than today's levels. (so much for the atmosphere not changing much).

"Tad Murty, oceanographer; adjunct professor, Departments of Civil Engineering and Earth Sciences, University of Ottawa: global warming "is the biggest scientific hoax being perpetrated on humanity. There is no global warming due to human anthropogenic activities. The atmosphere hasn’t changed much in 280 million years, and there have always been cycles of warming and cooling. The Cretaceous period was the warmest on earth. You could have grown tomatoes at the North Pole"

I have often heard comments of the space program damaging
the ozone layer and causing global warming. If this is so,
why do we have a space program, if it is damaging the earth
and we can't inhabit any other planet?
