Announced today, Al Gore has made official what he’s calling ‘Live Earth’ - a concert addressing the climate crisis.
Actually, make that plural - 7 concerts in total - across all 7 Continents reaching a global audience of over 2 Billion people. Locations announced were Sydney, Japan, Johannesburg, Brazil, Shanghai, London, and the Eastern United States.
Over 100 artists have already signed on, including Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith Hill, and John Mayer. I’ve also heard Coldplay is in the works.
Check it out and get involved!

Looks like Al is teaming up with Richard Branson (of Virgin empire fame) to offer a $25 Million dollar prize for anyone who invents/develops a cost-effective way to remove greenhouse gas causing carbon from the atmosphere. The ‘Virgin Earth Challenge’, as they’re calling it, goal is to remove one billion tonnes of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere a year for ten years.
Have an idea? Sumbit it here:

The AP is reporting that Gore’s top policy adviser from his 2000 presidential campaign - and other key supporters - met today in Boston to mull a potential Gore 2008 run. Those involved, though, along with the Gore’s Nashville office, stated that Al is in no way involved.
(Let’s hope he is)

Get this :: An internet petition urging Al Gore to run for President in 2008 has crossed the 25,000 signature mark. Now averaging over 500 a day, Gore is leading the nearest contenders by a factor of more than 5 to 1.
A sampling of comments include:
“Al, PLEASE run for President. We desperately need better leadership on environmental issues.”
“My wife and I are republicans and voted for Bush twice. Our next vote will be for Gore if he runs. We need to quit being the policemen for the world and solve the energy crisis in order to continue the freedom that we have long enjoyed.”

Gore is scheduled to speak before the House on March 21 on the threat of global warming. Here’s hoping he’ll be able to gain some traction on the idea of mandatory caps on greenhouse gas emissions.. (Bush has rejected setting limits and proposes new technologies and alternative energy sources to cut pollution.)
Do you think setting caps on these emissions is a good idea or bad (in regards to the businesses it affects)?

So, over lunch today, I got to thinking. Began posing a lot of ‘What ifs’ in my head..
What if Al Gore won the 2000 Election - how would the world be different?
#1 - we wouldn’t have invaded Iraq - I can tell you that..
what do you think? How else would the world be different?
